Tragically, our nation has experienced a great loss this week. The #IKNOWHIM blog team wanted to communicate a few things.

We are heartbroken for the loss of lives in Orlando.

We are also heartbroken about the darkness that led a soul to take so many lives.

We have hope because of the light of Christ.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.   John 1:5

This week each blog post has reflected on the name of God, Emmanuel, which means “God with us.”  Today, and in the days to come, as families and loved ones continue to grieve the loss of life we want to pray for God to be with Orlando.

Emmanuel, in this dark sinful world you walked on our dirt. You dwelt in our mess. Even being perfect and sinless you experienced our pain and grief first hand. Emmanuel, you did this because you LOVE us. You offered us hope when we did not deserve it. Emmanuel, God WITH us, you are FOR us. We cry out for your hope to fill the darkness.

 Lord Jesus, be with Orlando. By the power of your Holy Spirit fill each devastated heart with the comfort and encouragement of your presence. Through the Body of Christ Jesus please be a tangible source of hope for those who are suffering.
